— A man and woman accused of making methamphetamine in an Ardmore motel room are facing drug charges.

Limestone County Sheriff’s Deputy Jonathan Hardiman was on patrol about 11 p.m. Monday when the manager of the Budget Inn in Ardmore saw him coming through the motel parking lot and told the deputy he had received a complaint about a possible domestic incident going on in one of the rooms, Lt. Lance Royals said Wednesday.

“The manager said he was told people were hollering and arguing in another room,” Royals said. “When Hardiman made contact with the occupants of the room, he noticed the toilet kept running. When he went to check, he found a 20-ounce Coke bottle and a tin containing marijuana inside the tank, which caused it to keep running.”

Hardiman notified Royals, who is one of the county’s narcotics investigators, and Royals investigated. Arrested was Regina Brandy McNeese, 30, of 110 Hickory Ridge Road, Fayetteville, Tenn., and John William Franklin Jr., 38, of 26505 New Bethel Road, Elkmont, each on charges of second-degree manufacturing a controlled substance (meth) and second-degree possession of marijuana.

McNeese and Franklin remained Wednesday in the Limestone County Jail in lieu of posting bail of $26,000 each.
