GALESBURG — A Galesburg man was arrested on Christmas Eve after deputies found about 100 grams of liquid methamphetamine during a traffic stop.
Jerel Deatherage, 31, Lane Avenue, was arrested for unlawful possession of methamphetamine 100-400 grams, methamphetamine production 100-400 grams, methamphetamine manufacturing material, methamphetamine precursor, speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, a release stated.
A Knox County sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop around 5:30 p.m. Dec. 24 near 1075 Knox Road 575E for speeding. As the deputy approached the vehicle, he saw several items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine. There was a strong odor coming from inside the vehicle.
Officials were given consent to search the vehicle and found multiple blister packs of pseudoephedrine, a digital scale, packaging material and a liquid that later tested positive for methamphetamine.
The Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team assisted in recovering the evidence.
