MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) –

Authorities with the Department of Social Services and sheriff’s deputies were checking the welfare of a family Wednesday when they discovered a meth lab at the home in Moncks Corner.

During the investigation, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office charged 25-year-old Alan Lane Smith, 27-year-old Autumn Dudrey and 24-year-old John Glenn Knight with manufacturing meth. Dudrey is also facing three counts of child endangerment.

Authorities say DSS officials and deputies discovered an active meth lab on Kuffle Lane. Three children that lived at the home were removed by DSS officials after being decontaminated. Deputies say Dudrey told them the children belonged to her.

Hazmat teams spent the night on scene investigating and breaking down the meth lab.

Deputies say more charges are expected as the investigation continues.
